Pages from the archives of Just To Annoy You have just been released in Sticky and are soon to be on our online shop: etsy.com/shop/JTAYZINE. You can find them in brown paper bags in which you will find random pages from any of our past editions, and even some works that didn’t make the deadline.

Melbourne Zine Fair 2010

On the 13th of Feb we had a stall at the Melbourne Zine Fair, part of The Festival Of The Photocopier 2010 run by the wonderful people at Sticky. In case you don’t know much about these guys, Sticky is a shop/art space that is dedicated to Australian and international zine culture. They have open monthly arts talks, workshops, zine launches, and provide badge machines, photocopying, long armed staplers, a paper guillotine, stationary and typewriters. If you wanna read more, this is their website: stickyinstitute.com. All members on the JTAY team had a really fun day. The zines, the people and the live band were spiffy. Bring on more zine fairs!

HALFTONE HEROES:

Pretty cool, huh? Pretty much all the info you need is on the flyer. Basically it's an exhibition of Matthew Dunn, a.k.a Lonely Monsters to you comic book fans slash regular readers of our zine.

It also features the wartime comics of veteran comic artist William Henry Fletcher, and so promises to be an interesting experience of both classic and new forms of graphic art.

KELLY ROBSON

Kelly Robson is, according to her blogspot, an 'illustrator, textile and mixed media artist'.

Sounds very impressive, doesn't it? She's also a regular contributor to our zine, and recently featured us on her blogspot, so we thought we'd return the favour : )

She does cute little arty drawings, photography, and if you clicky the link above you can see the cute image she provided for our latest publication.

She also has a fanpage on Facebook : )

Edition Eight:

Future

Here are some ideas to get you started-

- Ten Years: Where do you see yourself? What do you want to achieve? Perhaps the usual- complete a triathlon, invent a cereal, watch every episode of Dawson's Creek, become a wizard.

- New Year Resolutions: Last year my friend ate every burger on the Grill'd menu. Legen-I hope you're not lactose intolerant because the next word is- dary.

- Predictions: What will happen with Global Warming, the state of the world, but also with technology, people you know, bands you like that will suck in future (AFI I'm looking at you from 2003 onwards) or unexpectedly become awesome, fashion, or even your ridiculous 2012 hypotheses. We want it all- we're greedy like that.

- Relationships: Which ones do you want to end? Or begin? Who is your ideal future significant other?

Here are some things to keep in mind -

1. The issue is themed 'FUTURE'; therefore, all entries must somehow relate to the theme. It can be anything to do with FUTURE (see the above suggestions), but don't limit yourself to our ideas- be creative!

2. Along with your submission, please send us your postal address so we can send a (free!) copy of our zine.

3. Make sure you tell us how you want to sign your work- with your full or just your first name, a pseudonym, a tag, a small picture of a mouse, just tell us how to let others know that it's your work.

4. All submissions will be printed on A5 black-and-white pages, so if you're submitting an image with colour, have a think about how it will look in black-and-white (Especially if the lighting is not the brightest...)

5. Unfortunately, we can’t always guarantee that your all your work will make it into the final product, especially if you submit multiple entries. However, don't get disheartened- we encourage you to try again next edition (who knows, you might see your work on one of the the JTAY interweb pages).

ISSUE #7: Signs

SIGNS

Some ideas to get you started –

• Omens: Black cats, superstitious stories, breaking a mirror while walking under a ladder.

• Signatures: Send us a picture of an autographed body part, a graffiti tag (no HAHA, everyone’s seen it) or just your own groovy calligraphy.

• Sign language: get together with your friends and bust out some AUSLAN skillisms.

• Street Signs: Amusing signs. Like, in England, I saw one that said ‘stop cock.’ Bonus points for anyone who comes up with a plausible explanation of this.

• Symbols: In case you’ve just discovered some sort of groundbreaking theory... something about ‘e’ equalling ‘m’ something. Mathematical signs, Caution!- Chernobyl signs, or something else clever that we haven’t thought of because the division of labour is the cornerstone of society.

• Star signs: Because if astrology is good enough for Nancy Reagan, it’s good enough for us.

Kaitlin Beckett - ‘A Compendium of Undersea Curiosities...and Friends’

Hello everyone, we're still working on getting this blogspot up and running. Our Winter Issue is now available and the details for our next edition will be posted soon. We would like to let everyone know that we're excited to attend Kaitlin Beckett's new show which is coming up very soon! The show is called ‘A Compendium of Undersea Curiosities...and Friends'. Kaitlin brings to life a collection of curious beasts from the deep sea and friends. So come and see an explosion of enchanted characters with fins, masks, rockets and much more.
